Scholarships Information for Students
The California Association of Private Postsecondary Schools (CAPPS) Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to honor the memories of two remarkable women who had an amazing impact on the proprietary school sector in California. The Memorial Scholarship Program consists of four $5,000 cash awards for students currently enrolled in CAPPS Member Schools who show great promise in the Allied Health fields or in Cosmetology/Esthetics/Massage disciplines.
Award Dates and Deadlines
To be eligible for these scholarships students must already be enrolled in a CAPPS Member School (see the Member Directory here to confirm school membership) and must complete the application form found here. CAPPS will begin accepting scholarship applications on May 1, 2009. All applications and supporting materials must be received by the CAPPS Office no later than 5:00 pm on August 31, 2009. Applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee and students will be informed of their award status by mail after September 18, 2009.
Special Awards Presentation: The four students who will receive the 2009 CAPPS Memorial Scholarship award will be honored during an awards presentation at the CAPPS Annual Conference (October 14-16, 2009) in Los Angeles, CA. The honored students will be presented with a plaque honoring their achievement and will each be given a check for $5,000 during the awards presentation. (Travel arrangements to/from the conference will be coordinated between the student’s school and the CAPPS office.)

To Qualify For Both Scholarships:
- You must be a US citizen and reside in California.
- You must be enrolled in a CAPPS Member School. Listing can be found at www.cappsonline.org in the Member Directory. A transcript or other proof of enrollment must be submitted with this application.
- You must submit an application with a 1-2 page essay (please see the application for exact details).
- You must provide three letters of recommendation (please see the application for exact details).
- You must have a high school diploma or the equivalent as approved by the State of California
- The application and all supporting documents must be sent together in one envelope.
