BPPVE
The Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education (BPPVE) was closed as of June 30, 2007 as a result of the Sunset of the Reform Act. Certain functions of the BPPVE, such as STRF Claims and student complaints are currently being handled by the Department of Consumer Affairs – the parent agency to the BPPVE.
However, AB 1525 and SB 45 were passed into law in 2007 creating voluntary agreements that the majority of schools in California have signed. These agreements state that the signatory school will continue operations following the guidelines of the Reform Act.
During this period of uncertainty all Member Schools are encouraged to call CAPPS for advice and help understanding the implications of AB 1525, SB 45 and the voluntary agreements.
Students and Non-Member Schools should contact the Department of Consumer Affairs at 800-952-5210 or check the old BPPVE website ( www.bppve.ca.gov) which continues to have information on current events.
